In the seventeenth century, some leuva patidars from charotar and kanam migrated along the banks of river tapi to Khandesh and varad [jalgaon and buldhana districts of maharashtra] in search of good agricultural land. There are around 120 villages of leva patidars in this area. They now speak marathi. There are around 10 lakh marathi leva patidars scattered all over the world.
